The coach is the blame for most of the ills of this team bottom line. The coach calls and creates the offensive sets and the coach determines how the team defends (switching, doubling, zone etc...).
From the Woody thread
Cant see how the coach doesnt take the blame for not being able to get these guys to beast together at the same time. In the NFL when they make playbooks the QB is involved. I cant see why the coach couldnt do that.
I think the blame game thats going on here is divisive and definitely pointing in the wrong direction.
I dont see why Melo, Stat, and Chandler get together and work the stuff out even if the coach doesnt.
I agree that Amare should play more, especially late in games. I think I actually wrote that somewhere (either here or in the main forum) after Miami game.
Just because I'm defending Melo it doesn't mean I'm anti-Amare.
I don't know if you guys were listening to the radio today, but Woodson was with Stephen A and he said that Melo's knee was hurt before he fell, and that he asked out of the game, but Woodson said no. As usualy he said "that's on me. that's my fault." I can't believe he admitted to being inept on live radio.
Potato Head is going to run this team into the ground. He did it in Atlanta, and he will do it here.

smh I heard that today also. Michael Kay was going crazy because of that at the beginning of his show.
So the fall aggravated Melo's problem knee, something which wouldn't have happened had Melo gotten checked out when he asked to?
This is a bad look on Woodson, your superstar player asks to come out of the game 'cuz of a knee problem and you basically tell him to "shut up and play through it"? Oh Woody...
I don't quite understand. Is he saying Melo asked to come out of the game before he fell? So the fall didn't cause whatever happened to his knee.
He said his knee has been bothering him for a few weeks. He said that was the reason he couldn't get any lift at the end of the Heat game for his shots. They did an MRI a few weeks ago, but it came out negative. So it's fine, but just needs rest.
I hope we rest Melo for a few games. This will also give opportunity to Amare to prove what he's worth.
I think he has already. He's redefined his game, and better than ever. His biggest weakness (defense) should be able to be covered by having Tyson Chandler down low. It's up to Woodson, who is supposed to be a defensive coach, to come up with schemes to help him out. Tom Thibadeau did it for Boozer in Chicago.

Actually, what he told Stephen A is ambiguous. He didn't just know that game. Melo's knee had been hurt apparently for more than 2 weeks. Once again, Knicks management being shady about player's health. They're not required to alert the fans but I think we can all agree they've been very shady, even within the organization, about injuries. I know these players get paid millions to play, but let's stop treating out guys like pack mules. If guys are hurt, we need to see the bigger picture and rest them. If Woody was more proactive, maybe we wouldn't even have to rest him an entire game.
I agree with Rameek about Woody. While we aren't privy to stuff within the organization, it just doesn't seem like Amare, Tyson and Melo had much involvement in coming up with a game-plan to best utilize them simultaneously.
Amare and Melo however have met before to determine how they can co-exist. Multiple occassions actually. I know you guys remember the time last yesr that ESPN made a huge deal about.
