If he got more than 7 shots a game, he'd score a lot more. They trade him to a team that gives him real minutes and some actual touches, and he's back over 20 points a game again. And the Knicks beat goes on.
Possibly, but let's not act like he's in this position because of anybody else. He can't stay healthy and he's been lazy. Should Woody play him more? Possibly. But him not playing a lick of defense, not rebounding, constantly getting stripped down low, getting blocked, not being available for the playoffs, always injured... that isn't anybody's fault but his own.
He's scoring efficiently and playing alright defense. He draws fouls and is boxing out better than just about any point in his career. He wasn't noticeably worse than anyone else on the team last night other than Chandler. He's playing all-around better than Shumpert, who despite being next to useless on both ends of the court, has been given the benefit of the doubt by all concerned. And Stoudemire's a much better option than the world's most inept teacher's pet, JR Smith.
But it's moot. Woodson doesn't like the guy, Carmelo can't play with him, and he'll probably be traded in the offseason. He'll look good next year, maybe All-Star Good, and the Knicks will still be the Knicks.
Hopefully last night's game will force Woodson to open his eyes about Amar'e. Doubt it though since he was still sitting him in the closing seconds of the game.

I disagree with almost everything you've said. Most specifically:
#1 He is still horrendous on defense
#2 He draws fouls but he also gets a lot of fouls called on him unnecessarily
#3 He's not playing "all around" better than Shumpert. He's scoring better.
#4 Shumpert has struggled on offense but has been playing really well on D.
#5 Carmelo CAN play with him. It's Chandler that he seems to not mesh with.
#6 If he gets traded, it'll most likely be to a bad team, so no...he won't be playing with any allstars lol
#7 Chandler DID NOT have a good game. I love how a guy can make one or two plays down the stretch and it conveniently erases their sub par night. He got KILLED by Speights. Scott inexplicably took Speights out. Then Chandler got KILLED by Thompson.
I have no issue with STAT playing more, but once again, he's in this situation because of himself. How long he'll be in this situation is on Woody, but HE put himself in this situation.
I actually hope we rest Melo for a while. It'll be the perfect thing for guys like Knickscity and Scooter, who seem to act like he's the worst thing to ever happen to the Knicks. Let's see how "dominant" Tyson Chandler is against the Thunder, a matchup he SHOULD win against the one player more overpaid and overrated than him...Kendrick Perkins. Let's see what he's made of. Let's see Jason Kidd's "intangibles" go to work. Let's see Prigioni shoot all these shots Melo and JR are supposedly taking from him. Let's see the same with Novak.
I GUARANTEE all that is going to happen is we're going to run a bunch of pick and rolls with Amare and JR Smith is going to try to be a hero. That's our only sustainable hope. Kidd and Novak getting hot for a few games is a mirage. The good playoff teams will eliminate that when the post season arrives. Last night was an utter joke. People, especially Mike Breen, were even suggesting Melo faked an injury. Fans trying to act like we're better off without our best player and making revelations because we beat the Cavs. Really? The Cavaliers...who pounced on us and saw a salary dump guy drop 21 in the first half? We have A LOT of issues surrounding this team. I just wish our fans would wake the hell up and stop letting Grunwald think, as long as everyone thinks it's JR and Melo's fault, nothing else needs to be done.
We beat the Cavs in Cleveland for the first time in 10 games after crawling out of a 22 point hole Carmelo put us in to. Suck it.
I think this face says it all. I don't know how Carmelo put in in a 22 point hole but whatever. Beating Cleveland shouldn't be an achievement. It should be the norm.
