Default How to sell a foul call

First game of the season, and the ref wasn't calling fouls on either side.

I was handchecking and fouling like and so was my matchup and I only shot 3 free throws this game (2 shots plus an and-one) and my matchup didn't shoot any.

How do I sell fouls without looking stupid?

Sometimes you have to pretend the handcheck made you lose the ball, but make sure you or a teammate can recover.

It forces the ref to make the call.

Also, pull up/rip through his hands. Works like a charm.

tell the ref if it keeps happening, but be warned, that means you'll have to keep your hands off too. seems like the ref was calling it both ways in your story

after you tell him, dribble your defender over to one of the refs and when he does it knock his hand away. if he does it again, the ref WILL call it. selling calls is all about knowing what angles the refs have to make the call

also rip throughs and fakes like above comment

If the ref is calling it the same for both sides, then just play. If you play a lot of streetball, you should be used to guys handchecking and pushing you on every possession.
