This was pretty damn impressive. That's half a playoff slot without a loss. Yao went down and they still won 10 more games without him. Looking back that was a pretty deep team T-Mac, Battier,Brooks ,Alston,Scola, Bobby Jackson.
I remember that winning streak for the Rockets. I thought it was pretty interesting that the streak was snapped by the Boston Celtics; the team that went on to win the championship that year.
I remember that streak like it was yesterday. Despite that crazy winning streak nobody looked at the Rockets as legit title contenders. The Lakers, Spurs, & Hornets were the favorites to come out of the West, I think this was the same year the Suns killed their team by trading for Shaq.
I remember Deke basically coming out of his bench mode and beasting it down the stretch. This was a 42 year old guy who still managed to average 1.2 blocks and a memorable 7 block game against Bynum in one of our wins.

What happened to that team with Yao was a travesty. Really was. That team defensively was strong, just needed that top level second option in Yao in the playoffs. The West was too tough.
Not saying they would've won the title over Boston, but I do think they would've won the West. Or at least given us a sick Kobe/Tmac matchup
