and barkleys best years are obviously 87,88,89

barkley had more "good" seasons in the 90's... but if he was at his absolute best i would say the 80's would be getting his 1988 season of 28/12/3 on nearly 60% fg's

and he has no success in the 90's to sway my vote

kobe/shaq/duncan = 00's

jordan, hakeem = 90's
russell, wilt = 60's
magic,bird = 80's
kareem = 70's

and if lebron wins 1 more ring and bumps hakeem... thats 4 players from the 2000's era in the top 10... no other era with more than 2

James may end up becoming a '10 decade player.

You actually can keep Barkley. But Shaq? He played eight seasons of his career in the 90s. Was a better rebounder and defender. But I see your point.

get it?
I see what you're saying, but more team success doesn't equal better player. Was Kobe better in 2006 or 2010?

Well, the only reason the 90's don't have anyone else considered a top 10 player by consensus is because Jordan didn't let anyone else win a ring.

Malone with a ring = top 10
Barkley with a ring = top 10

I think Shaq should be 90s even though he was the best in 99-00/00-01... it seems like by about 03 or 04 he was declining. He was better in 94-95 than he was in 03, I'd say.
