how explosive / athletic was willis reed? he didn't look very athletic in the game film i've seen, but then the game i've seen most often was the one where he limped onto the floor hit two j's and then packed it in for the win.
By the time he got down court on a fast break, the other team had already gotten into their defensive set. Still didn't stop him from ringing up a ton of assists though.
Cassel is good, but when he first came into the league, he was pretty quick. He packed on weight, injuries slowed him down and became a sloth out there. But the thing he had going for him was that he was a 'big' guard so he'd overpower smaller guards in the post.
also, my vote goes to duncan. he's not a freak athlete. he can jump high enough to dunk and that's it, he can run fast enough to play and that's it. if he was 6-2 he couldn't dunk.
shaq. even if big men are considered limited in agility, he has the fewest all around post play and never really had great footwork. he has always been predictable about his jump hooks of the glass or dunking...don't deny it.

what are you talking about? at 7'1 / 250 i too would jump and spin on people. fast? what's fast? he was never fast and quick and give him the ball outside the paint and create like say a 7' dirk. shaq is great but not athletic.
I reckon you won't be able to find anyone as big as shaq and as fast as he is. Oliver millier comes close..... Arvydas? Both those guys were arguably as big or much bigger than shaq. But shaq was way way faster.

what freeeeekin fast do you keep talking about!!!??? overpowering, yes. he is a behemoth in the paint. all time dominant big man. career 50+ fg% on point blank shooting. no, oliver "baby shaq" and arvydas were never even close. but fast and quick? and no i don't wanna see no videos! we are talking about athleticism here.
