Re: Is anyone in the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan going to root for the Nets?
I think the black and white coloring will go a long way towards capturing more Brooklyn fans. It's just kind of simple, yet dirty and hard. And the Brooklyn name. I think a good chunk will convert. Maybe not real fans, but eventually some will turn into real fans.

This is correct. You don't just cut off the loyalty you had for the team your whole life, so there will still be plenty of Brooklynites who will always root for the Knicks, rightfully so. I didn't grow up in New York, so this is a rare case where transition has been easy for me, and an obvious one. My bond with the Knicks isn't as strong but I'll still support them as my 2nd team. It seems Nets will fall to mediocrity for years to come, while Knicks remain a playoff team.

And by the way no it doesnt make "sense" to like the Nets
Because theyre on the same island as queens. I dont like the Mets and I live 3 minutes from them...big deal. You can like whatever team represents your state, you dont have to pick the one thats geographically closest to you
I disagree. If you're from Queens rooting for the Yankees you should still be perceived as a bandwagoner. This is different from a Knicks/Nets case because the Mets have been in Queens since the 60s.
Re: Is anyone in the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan going to root for the Nets?
Honestly, I think it depends on the team. If they come out guns blazing with a nice team, they'll attract some attention and fans.. If they suck like last year, they'll have a hard time maintaining a solid fanbase.. I mean it'll be hyped at first but if they blow it'll die down pretty damn quickly.

Basically. Even then if the Nets will have a solid base, they will never top the Knicks. Hell, when the Nets were going to the finals and Knicks were in hell, Knicks were still the more popular team by far (Yes they were in Jersey but still part of the metro area).
The first year will be hype cause Brooklyn is getting their first major sports team since the Dodgers left but if they don't put up a decent team to get behind after next season, the honeymoon will die real quick.

Brooklyn born, Brooklyn raised here...
Knicks fan since forever...My loyalty will never change...
though, moving to Bklyn will probably make me dislike the Nets a lot less now...might even catch a game or two since the arena is real close to me.
I'd say the vast majority of people that will convert to Nets fans are the fringe bball fans, the fans who don't have a team and are just happy that their borough has a pro team, or bandwagon Knicks fans.
Re: Is anyone in the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan going to root for the Nets?
me and my brother are deciding whether to become permanent BK Nets fans... already we don't like the logo.. we both I guess would have to drop Pistons as our favorite team and it will be ten times better than being a dumbass knicks fan... tho if they ever make the finals, off course we'll still root for the city.

Like the sign says, Brooklyn would be the fourth largest city in America if it was a separate city behind
New York
Los Angeles
Chicago
But Brooklyn has a larger population than Manhattan so if all the boroughs were separate cities, Brooklyn would be 3rd.
Houston is growing pretty fast and has annexed some nearby communities and is expected to surpass Brooklyn's population by maybe 2030

queens here and hell no. unless they were to get a superstar that i like, i prob wont even watch their games. i might go to see a nets-knicks game there though, or nets-okc. nets-lakers would prob be too expensive
