Miami got extremely close to winning the finals with Lebron playing like a scared bench player, so I don't understand how he needs to play like MJ for them to win it all this year. Had he played like a decent 3rd option last year, they would have won.

Yes, he made some big buckets against the Bulls and the Celtics, but so did Wade and Bosh. It's not like he carried them in all four wins in a 7-game series. They both ended in 5. So I don't buy that "They wouldn't have made it to the finals without Lebron" BS. Maybe it would have taken them 1 or 2 more games, but they could have advanced to the finals even with Lebron playing like he did in the finals. Who knows?

All I know is that they are so stacked that they can win it all this year with Lebron playing below average, let alone at an MJ level.

They are not my favorites, but it's not because Lebron's supporting cast is not that good; it's because Lebron is overrated.

Barkley's really exaggerating.

It's more so the Big 3 that has to play at a high level as opposed to just LeBron. If LeBron has a great game while Wade and Bosh don't, Miami will lose. They could also lose even when the Big 3 does play well, because they are so lacking in other areas. It's amazing how a team with a core so good can still have such a small margin of error. Their gimmicky defense and atrocious paint play(interior defense/rebounding/scoring) makes them a very vulnerable team. They are not well rounded. You just hope the Big 3 is so good that it compensates for their other severe shortcomings. What's happened post-AS break though is the Big 3 have been inconsistent, and when those guys aren't at the top of their game, they can't win games any other way. They can't win 'ugly' because they just don't have the personnel for it.

This is why Chicago should be the favorites in the East. They have no weaknesses and pretty much do everything well.

Lets face it... playing at an MJ level is impossible for Lebron.

LBJ will win his first Finals MVP at age 27 yrs.old. Barkley needs to STFU. He couldn't even lead his Sixers deeper into the playoffs. The Suns advanced in the Finals because they were already a good team without Charles. The Suns also advanced in the 1989 and 1990 Conference Finals. Charles also failed to win an NBA Championship with the 1990's Houston Rockets.

Wade's last great performance was at the free throw line in 2006. The finals MVP should read worlds most valuable free throw shooter

That's exactly what needs to happen, and I've been saying it for the longest time. But his fans are gonna try to flip it on Wade cuz otherwise doing so will make Lebron more of Pippen than MJ.

I'm really wondering how awful the Heat's role players have to play, and for how long, for people to realize they aren't all they look like on paper?

Haslem, Miller, and Battier are old and have probably the worst per-36 of their careers. Chalmers production dropped off a cliff. Cole is historically bad. Joel/Turiaf are the worst C combo in the L.

Same with Bosh, how many games against good teams will he have to get completely shut down and shat upon from people like Noah, Ibaka, Chandler for people to realize he is not as good as his Toronto stats? He's literally getting embarrassed at this point.

And sadly even Wade doesn't look like the old Wade, but his production usually increases in the playoffs. It will take a monumental effort from Wade and James for the Heat to have a chance at winning anything.

Not really. LeBron isn't everything for the Heat. It's not like he's the only good player on their team. It would be NICE for him to contribute in the Finals when they get there, but it's not like the Heat rely on him for absolutely everything. One thing I do agree on with Chuck is that he's the one that needs to get the role players involved.

Haslem, Battier, Miller and Jones are all pretty nice pieces around an all-star trio, and they definitely can step up. Let's just hope the Heat step up their intensity.

I rather go by their performances in the last year's playoffs than this year's regular season.

Bosh, Chalmers, Haslem and Miller (after they came back from injuries) all played pretty well in the playoffs. James Jones was on fire against the Celtics but then got injured. Anthony was doing his job for the most part. Bibby was the only disappointing player probably, save James in the finals.

Until they disappoint in the playoffs, I will say that that's a pretty good supporting cast for one superstar, yet there are two of them in Miami.

You have been guaranteeing that LeBron is going to win a title and a finals MVP for like 3-4 years now. Why should anyone believe you this time around?

If Lebron and the Heat didn't do the celebrating and guarantee rings thing, people probably would say his supporting cast sucks. All those idiots did was apply more pressure to themselves which is something Lebron wouldn't and doesn't want because he isn't good under pressure.

Well then you are just playing the result. Its like ppl that think Fisher is still good when he was obviously awful this year. Heat's role players have been nothing short of awful, and there is no reason to think they are good enough to win it all unless:
A) the role players magically become not awful
B) Bosh actually plays like a superstar
Or
C) Wade and James dominate
