the game might have been able to be a scrub off the bench. IIRC he went on a full scholarship to washington state which was a decent b-ball school at the time.

Re: Rappers who could play in the NBA
To the people saying Snoop, he got called out in the very first issue of SLAM magazine for saying he got recruited to some college, they went and interviewed the coach there who said he'd never heard of him.

Did they ask the coach about him using his real name? I doubt the coach would know him by Snoop Dogg

Nah they just went and asked him if he'd ever recruited a guy with the last name of Dogg and the coach said no. I mean that's how a good journalist would do it. Especially one that works for that esteemed publication SLAM magazine.

that response is fair, given how stupid the question was.

I know you're just speaking in hypotheticals and I know this thread is tongue-in-cheek, but in order for The Game to have been a scrub off the bench in the NBA, he likely would have had to have been a real-deal star at Washington State.
On a serious note, aside from Percy Miller, who I truly never saw play even though he had that cup of preseason tea in Toronto, I can't think of any rappers who've I've watched play basketball and said "Man, he could have been something." Even The Game, from the admittedly brief clips I've seen, appeared competent (which counts for something) but hardly outstanding.

I ment did they ask " hey did this college recruit Snoop Dogg?" then the coach would be like" Snoop Dog??? these young cats and their Nicknames..."

The game never got to play a game in college IIRC, he was kicked off the team for drugs. But anyone that can get a full scholarship out of high school to a decent D1 team has a shot. Maybe like a 5-10% chance of making the league.
