Yeah but so does A&M, who split with Baylor and finished with the same Big 12 record as Baylor. Both are good teams and I think both can beat dook. Texas A&M may get their shot first, and if they can't do it, then Baylor will hopefully get a shot in Elite Eight. Then again, Nova may not let Baylor get that far.
I think A&M will get a shot. A&M should be able to beat Utah State and Purdue is without Hummel and got owned by Minnesota. We got a good draw.

Tell me about A&M. They've been off my radar this season; just never seemed to get a chance to really watch them. What's their strengths and weaknesses? Best player? Who did they whip in the Big 12 (seems like I saw just about everyone else), and who whipped them?

Thanks!
Their strength is team chemistry. They play really well as a team. They don't really have a star player but Donald Sloan is the player that will get A&M points if they go through a drought. And they go through quite a few of these.
Their other strength is defense even though they lost their best defender and 2nd leading scorer. That was a bummer but it brought the team together.
They've beaten everyone who they were supposed to beat (except for New Mexico) and lost all the games they were supposed to lose.
Their main weakness is when teams play zone defense against them. It's really hard for them to beat it because they aren't the best 3-pt shooting team and they aren't the best driving team. Usually they do ok with getting it to our posts during this time. David Loubeau is a beast and has some great post moves.
They grind it out and always keep games close. The only blowout was against Kansas State and they couldn't stop missing during that game.
I think they'll beat Utah State and Purdue or Siena and keep it close against Duke. I don't know what to say about the outcome of the game. I pick A&M but that's a biased pick.
One of my best friends went to a basketball camp in 8th grade and had to guard Ekpe Udoh and he said he got dunked on so hard on a fast break by Udoh Udoh was about 6'9" then and a junior, my friend is 6'3" now so he couldn't have been that tall then. Must've sucked trying to guard a guy close to a foot taller than you and 3 or 4 years older, let alone a D1 prospect. He says that his parents actually signed him up for the wrong camp, he had no business being there in the first place.

Don't sell Sloan short. He can play. If he's not a "star" then he's very close.
And losing to New Mexico isn't anything to hang your head about. They are obviously a very good team.
I really want to pick Baylor to get to the Final Four because of the combination of size and backcourt skill but I just can't trust them. They lost to Kansas State twice. Idk it will come down to the wire how far I pick them to go.
Their game against Kansas in the Big 12 tourney was the first time I've been able to watch TAMU closely this year. I loved Sloan's game. He was every bit as good in that one as Collins.
I think Baylor (and Butler) have better teams than the rankings suggest. Out of that conference I see either Baylor or Vill making the final four - with a hard fought game to get there.
Pretty much bullshit how Baylor is a 3rd seed with the same Big 12 record and a worse SOS.
Not really.
Conference records don't really matter to the committee. Baylor has a better overall record, a higher RPI, a much higher Kenpom rating. They're significantly better offensively and only slightly worse defensively, averaging 7 more points per 100 possessions- they rank No. 4 in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency- and only 3 less points allowed per 100 possessions.

How is Butler better than their ranking?
They got their chance to play with the big boys with a challenging nonconference schedule, and a home win over an Evan Turner-less Ohio State team was the best they did. They lost to Clemson, Minnesota, Georgetown, and even an average UAB team.
They play in the Big Ten, they go .500. At best.
