There are other NBA players who would love to have had some of the supporting casts Dirk has had.

I agree with Showtime...Dirk needs some talent around him...Someone like a Prime Scottie Pippen, someone who can control the offence, letting Dirk get some low post position, or come off a screen for 3, or just set him up in the Triple-threat position. And a Pippen type would be the Best defender, defending PG, SG, SF...But he doesn't have a great like Pippen, he just has a pot smoking idiot for a teamate.

Jason Terry is alright though.

Hopefully they could grab hold of Stephen Jackson. I'd prefer him over Josh Howard's stupidity at end of games.

Really excited to see if Kidd & Marion can show they could still run.

I actually believe if he was the second option on a team , he would be deadly.
But he's carried a team for so long , he probably doesn't know how to play without the ball as a 2nd option.

Teaming up with Lebron would be 'real' interesting , because of Dirk's outside game.
Any center playing with Dirk would have to be a defensive minded center first , & rebounds , and let the rest of the team do the scoring.

Maybe that is why Shaq had mentioned a few times playing in Dallas , because he saw the potential of playing with Dirk.

The guy has had Finley, Nash, Juwan Howard, Stackhouse, Terry, Kidd, Josh Howard, Walker, Antawn Jamison, Raja Bell, and other good role players over his years in Dallas and he has still failed to win a title. None of those guys are like a 00-02 Kobe Bryant, Pippen, or McHale but he has still had plenty of talent over the years. I don't give a sh!t, the excuses have run out for Dirk. Great players always find ways to win.

You fail first off becasue your a damm Grizzlies talking trash about Dirk and the Mavs, the Grizzlies haven't been in the playoffs since 2006 after Dirk and the Mavs beat they ass 4-0 so I see why your hating, people said the same thing about Kobe just like Lakers fans said in this thread...the Lakers put the right players around Kobe and won a title...they Grizzlies will never make it to the Finals because nobody Superstar is ever gonna come there.

I doubt that the Nellie family would work this trade.... nice thought though

From all the players you listed, which one is better or at par with:
1. 2009 Gasol
2. 2008 Pierce
3. 2007 Ginobili
4. 2006 Shaq?

No one.

It's crazy to think that while Dirk is considered wayy below Kobe, Garnett, Duncan or Wade in terms of talent, his 2nd options has never been as good as the competitions as well.

Why people see him as underachieving is beyond me

Relating the two is one thing, because they are related. Making an assumption of exclusivity based upon that relation is another (i.e. single team instead of the style they played). And, using that assumption to take another step of assuming I'm deliberately deceiving people is a leap of ignorance I don't even want to address further.

bitter much?

Little harsh to call someone a retard because of it...

Well, anyone who posts on ISH regularly knows this guy is far from a Laker fan. He swoops into every thread with the words Kobe or Laker in the title. I was just bored, and I decided I'd give him a hard time.

Any of those players win the MVP twice in a row>

Dirk's
teammates who had previously been All Stars
Antoine Walker
Nick Van Exel
Jerry Stackhouse
Eddie Jones
Jason Kidd

teammates who were All Stars alongside Dirk

Steve Nash
Michael Finley
Josh Howard

teammates who became All Stars after leaving Dirk
Antawn Jamison
Devin Harris

teammates who went on to win a title after leaving Dirk
Antoine Walker
Michael Finley
Didier Ilunga' Mbenga
Josh Powell

teammates who won an MVP before Dirk
Jason Kidd

teammates who won an MVP after Dirk
Steve Nash

Coaches who were coach of the year while coaching Dirk
Avery Johnson

Coaches who had previously won the Coach of the Year award prior
Rick Carlisle
Don Nelson

So he has played under 3 C.O.T.Y caliber coaches, including one in Avery who won it while coaching him. He has had 3 teammates suit up alongside him for the All Star Game, and has had 5 who were previously given that honor prior to becoming his teammate, 2 who would go on to become All Stars after leaving Dirk's side, has 1 team mate who has been an MVP before, and another who went on to win the award twice after leaving Dirk's side.

Other than Kobe/Shaq, who can say the same?

Make the same list for some other top players. Shouldn't take long. I did this one of the top of my head in about 10 minutes
Steve Nash
