Lol @ you bringing his scoring in the Olympics of all places. I guess since Kobe was shooting 39% last year in the Olympics he is a terrible NBA player right?

That is bull ****. He had a 30 point game, but wasn't averaging more than 25 points. The only thing that came out of him being the number one option was his body being worn out and him missing significant time in the playoffs.

Manu is perhaps one of the most overrated players in the last few years. Not only has he been playing with a sure fire HOF and a finals MVP, he has also been coached by one of the greatest minds this game has ever seen.

Give Vince, TMac, or even Durant that and they would be wearing the rings.

Nice post.

come on now. manu's just getting back from surgery. it's gonna be a little while before his ppg goes up this season. (not that the spurs run an offensive scheme dedicated to one guy getting his 30+ a game...)

the guy finished in the top 10 in mvp voting last year. he had an amazing season and was the #1 option for significant stretches throughout the season on a team that was actually winning games. he saw double teams. teams had to focus on him. (this always gets overlooked and i'm not sure why...).

vince and tmac are great players that haven't had what manu has had in tim duncan, so i see your point there. but given the history (05 finals) (08 olympics) i know manu is a guy that can will a team to victory on the only stage that counts as he's done it countless times. he's a heart and soul guy, which you might be able to say about vince and tmac, but not on ginobili's level imo.

I agree Durant may have been a stretch for Manu's past accomplishments, but by this time next year there will be no comparison.

I love when people say "will a team to victory" I guess Tim Duncan's defensive presence, board presence, leadership were completly void when Manu was doing these heroic acts?

I love when people say stuff about this concerning Vince Carter and TMac. Just because Vince hasn't lived up to his "potential" and TMac hasn't gotten out of the first round people seem to believe they care less. If you watch these two players over the years and see their offensive and defensive prowess, you will understand this is just not the case. TMac on one hand is heads and tails above both Manu and Vince in terms of defense (an aspect of basketball that people continuously look over when concerning basketball, while Vince led a very poor team to a playoff run.

Manu is an excellent talent and will go down in history for his accomplishments in the NBA, Euroleague, and Olympics. The fact is however his past does not warrant him a post as the number 2 SG in the league.
