Default How badly did the Bobcats screw up this year's draft?

Seriously, Lopez at #9 was so obvious. Even Lopez was so stunned he teared up on national TV. They could have satisfied their PG obsession with Chalmers at #20. This would give them a lineup of:

PG: Felton
SG: Richardson
SF: Wallace
PF: Okafor
C: Lopez

Bench: Chalmers, Dudley, May, Morrison

I think they'd be a legit 6-8 seed in the East. Having a decent center solves all of their problems. It lets Okafor and and Wallace play their natural positions and moves May bench. The management for this team is so screwed up.

At least DJ Augustin is looking like a solid player so it could've been worse. But yea, not the greatest pick.

If they didn't take Augustin, Larry Brown would have teared up on national TV. What's worse, a 20 year old crying, or a 70 year old crying? Someone was going to get their heart broken.

Yeah even now I still wish we'd taken Lopez. Though I am really loving how DJ has been playing, especially when he is on the floor WITH Raymond Felton. Didn't work too well with McInnis and Felton last season (put that one on Sam Vincent imo) but it seems ok this time.

Hopefully Sean May will turn the corner soon and become more consistent and be able to play more. Emeka has turned it up a bit the last few games and is beasting. Not sure if that will last but he seems to be playing well under Larry's system. Just seems the team has finally started to understand and nail coach's system.

I still wonder what the team would be like if we'd taken Lopez at 9, and used our 20th pick on someone like Mario Chalmers though. To me, that would have been a fantastic draft.

I definitely don't have a problem with Augustin, he seems to be a decent player. The pick just doesn't make any sense when you already have a decent PG in Felton and a huge hole at center.

They're not a winning franchise and probably never will be.

Augustin was their guy, and he is proving to be a really good NBA player. Felton is still on the team, and he is a packageable asset. He can be used to get a big that could play well in Larry Brown's system. Leading up to the draft there were issues about Brooklyn's toughness and rebounding. The Cats got the big they wanted in Alexis Ajinca, a player who was at one time a top 5 prospect, and fell because of poor utilization by his team in Europe.
