Sometimes I wonder if Wilt Chamberlain was even human. All these stories are amazing, what a legend!

Apparently Wilt did not have any children either.

I reckon all current NBA players excluding Europeans and Steve Nash, are a direct descendant of Wilt.

And despite all of MJ's achievements, he doesn't have the same mythical stories as Wilt.

But you hear the stories of Michael being so intense in practice and during the Olympics, and how when he wanted to he couldn't be stopped, wether it be during a game or in practice.

Stories like this usually come out after a player has been retired for some time, and other generations that really don't know about that named player ask others who did see them or know them about certain instances where they showed how great they were.

I'm sure many Jordan "myths" will appear in the 2020's and later.

And on 63 shot attempts, Wilt had to make around 35-40 buckets, which is a pretty damn high percentage.

Wilt was that good.

And since there were no video tapes of historical events of the 1800's and 1900's does that mean none of them happened?

I guess the 1-2 persons here claiming that Wilt's actual achievements and records (not his myths) didn't happen because they weren't caught on tape were just kidding. Either this or we'll have to rename the board into something like "SLAM forum" (which is the real bottom of the barrel when it comes to NBA boards).
When it comes to myths, my mind goes to the "20,000 women" or "52 inch vertical" claims. There's no reason to doubt that a person with Wilt's physique, size and talent (the few ones that ever existed, anyway) wouldn't be able to do such a thing at least once during a pickup game. It's not as if someone decided to make up a story, let alone a player who wasn't a contemporary of Wilt. Larry Brown mentions the story with Wilt in the early 80's blocking all of Magic's shots in a pickup game, Marques Johnson makes claims similar to Kiki's (https://www.nbrpa.com/news/featurear...imonials.aspx)*, Robert Parish claimed in the 80's that Wilt coming back to action would be one more trouble for him, etc. I guess that if so many different guys make such similar claims in different cases, there has to be some truth to them.
Whether Wilt back then dunked on 5 defenders or 3, that's not the point. The fact that they stopped the game at that moment and that the same people who were shouting and yelling suddenly shut their mouths means that something pretty spectacular happened, anyway.

*Hmmm, maybe David Greenwood is BULLS...

You stupid kid apparently has no respect for NBA history. Seriously, do you really consider 2000s a strong era? The Spurs wouldn't have clinched the NBA final in 1980 or 1990s but they won the titles three times in this era...

What are you on about?

StroShow asked how could he dunk over everyone on the opposing team and I responded with a joke answer. End of story.

Furthermore I wouldn't want to get in a basketball discussion with you after seeing your top ten lists for each position, and your other posts showing your lack of NBA knowledge.

You know they won the title in 1999 right? A year after the Bulls dynasty ended? I think they could be successful in any era. In the 90s, the Spurs were usually Robinson + a bunch of scrubs and they still got to the playoffs about every year, and when they had a bit more talent then that, usually advanced past the 1st round, including winning it all in 99. The Spurs team of this decade is alot better then the Spurs of the majority of that decade. I don't think they would be as successful, and I especially don't think the likes of Tony Parker would be as good, but they would definitely contend with the Rockets, Suns, Sonics, Jazz, and Blazer teams. I don't think they would be able to get past those Rockets or Blazer teams, but they would be able to possibly stop the Suns, Sonics, or Jazz from getting to the Finals, and get there themselves. They wouldn't beat the Bulls though.

And they wouldn't win any titles in the 80s, but they might be the Lakers biggest competition in the West back then.
