Just a few comments I found on a animal site.

Notice that despite the warning calls from the deers, which obviously alerted everything in there, the buffalo apparently wasnt concerned as much as the other animals, and only got to its feet when the tiger actually started to attack it. This means that attacks do happen often, and the buffalo are aware that with no surprise element on the tigers, they can easily deter the big cats. Probably it is because of these animals that tigers evolved as the biggest of the cats to cope up with difficulty of hunting the prey specie present in the indian subcontinent, and the stripes to aid them in camouflage to successfully ambush deers, which can sprint faster than any tigers. But even then, tigers have a very low success hunting rate. At 5%, thats like harrassing 20 buffaloes and being able to take down 1.

Of course the attack failed ! It was even not an ambush, a lone tiger has absolutely no chance against such a buffallo. And the felid know it...

Cape Buffalo are among the leading cause of lion deaths and I've yet to see any significant proof that a male lion can make a habit of taking down a healthy bull alone, without attacking the animal from behind. In a similar manner, tigers prey on Guar by *ambush*, not a head on gladiatorial confrontation.

I'll continue to back the bull over the cat unless somebody can provide me evidence that tigers and lions can contend with a healthy bull in a confrontation like this.

Do you seriously understand that they've been pitting real life animals against each others in movies back in those times?

Read up on stories of pitting tigers and lions in there. Nothing about that was staged. The real bull was kicking the shit out of the real lion.

It might have been for a movie, but that actually happened, right before your eyes. I'm sure there was an acting coach telling the bull to ram it's horns into the lion's ass.

Big cats are the most magnificent animals in the wild. As big and strong as Rhinos are, they lack the charisma of a big cat.

You guys do realize when you say that tigers and lions kill large herbivores, it means they ambush them, and attack from the back right?

We're pitting these animals face to face, and seeing what happens when they straight up go at it.
