Both series were close and Kobe's elite play was the difference in both of them, hitting clutch long range shots on the road

    Kobe doesn't come through in games 1 & 3 in 09 & we're looking at a potential upset

Same thing with Game 6 in 2010, single-handedly carried us in the clutch

I didn't know a 25 point game in the 4th required "clutch" play

Kobe was literally shooting 30% in the 4th quarters in 2009

    What?

Lakers won that game by only 8, and he had 11 in the quarter

Suns come within 3 with 2 minutes to play on their home court

Kobe scores 9 of their last 14 points

Totally different circumstances. Kobe's team was a championship contender. LeBron's was not. Gasol, Ariza, Odom, Bynum, Fisher > Mo Wiliams, Big Z, Andy.

Trying to discredit LeBron's stats because his team didn't win is asinine. There are no empty stats in the conference finals.

Plus, the team Kobe played was the Denver Nuggets, #16 defense in the league, not top 5 like me and 3ball were talking about. LeBron put up 38/8/8 against the Orlando Magic, #1 defense in the league that year.

And the 2010 WCF was the Suns, the 23rd best defense in the league.

    Not even comparable at all.

Plus you rounded all the numbers.

    I'm onto you mother****err

My b, you were talking about the '09 Finals at first, then thought when you brought up 2010 you were doing the same

I made a separate thread about Kobe vs the top defenses.

This series was great regardless, he had big numbers and he closed the series out on the road.

Yeah, Lebron played the Magic, but they were content with him getting his as long as the games were in their favor .

Kobe in the WCF elimination games in the 3 WCFs

    Game 5 2008: 39/3/3 on 53% shooting, 61%TS

    Game 6 2009: 35/6/10 on 60% shooting, 73%TS

    Game 6 2010: 37/6/2 on 48% shooting, 62%TS

That's 37/5/5 a game on some high ass efficiency

Now let's compare to Bran's 3 elimination games from the same years

    08 vs Boston (his best)

Game 7: 45/5/6 on 48% shooting, 60%TS, Pierce lit him up for 41 points on 57% shooting, 73%TS, Bran missed a 5-ft shot and a 3 in the last 25 seconds, they lost by 5.

    09 vs Orlando

Game 6: 25/7/7 on 40% shooting, 50%TS. His overall numbers for the series were impressive, but didn't really show up for a Game 6 that could have pushed it to a Game 7 at home

    10 vs Boston:

    Game 6: 27/19/10 on 38% shooting, 51%TS

That's 33/10/8 a game on medicore shooting in 3 losses.

    Kobe the better closer.

What about Kobe's Game 7 of the finals?

And if you compare career elimination games LeBron performs significantly better

    Kobe the better closer.
2008 game 5, lakers were up 3-1. Not elimination game
2009 game 6, lakers up 3-1. Not elimination game
2010 game 6 also not elimination game

Also, don't forget these 2 ACTUAL elimination games from LeBron:
    2013 NBA finals Game 6 - 32/10/11
    2014 NBA finals Game 7 - 37/12/4

    Also, Boston 2012 - Game 6 - 45/16 or something like that

Those are skewed because Kobe also played in some elimination games as a kid in the 90s and played in the 1st round on some horrible ass teams and didn't have a chance in blowout losses up to 09....

When the games were competitive in Game 7s and what not, Kobe showed up

2000 WCF Game 7 - 25/12/7 with 4 blocks, leads team in 4 categories in a 4th quarter comeback win

    2002 WCF - 31/10/6 on 44/67/91 shooting in Games 6 & 7

then from 03-08, Lakers get eliminated in blowout losses, I don't think those are notable.

2009 WCSF Game 7 - Kobe puts up 14/7/5 while only playing 33 mins in a blowout win

2010 we all know the 6/24 game...

When the Lakers were in a close series and had a chance to win, Kobe came through. He wasn't in these situations much in his career, but he could have folded in 00 and 02 and they don't three-peat or even win 2 titles with Shaq..
