Third greatest franchise - Spurs or Bulls?
Celtics and Lakers are 1 and 2 but who's 3?
Before last season I'd have leaned to Bulls for the 6-4 title edge but now its 6-5 and the Spurs have been so good for so long.
Thoughts?

The two are close. Bulls have more rings so the edge probably goes to them, but the Spurs have been so consistent for so long.
Jordan and Duncan are undoubtedly the two most important players to a particular franchise in NBA history though.

I'd say the spurs. The bulls success is purely luck based and they've done absolutely nothing outside of lucking out and getting Jordan. Even their minuscule success with Rose is purely luck based. They were absurdly lucky to even get him.

It's the spurs. The Bulls are irrelevant outside of a short Jordan stint.

Neither probably the Sixers. They have a longer history.
Out of those 2 teams the Spurs.

Bulls.
Dominated the 90s (toughest decade along with the 80s in NBA history). MJ and the Bulls prevented more HOFers from winning rings than any other team. Did the repeat three-peat. Only Reinsdorf breaking up the team stopped them from keeping it going.

Spurs.
Of course, you can attribute a lot of success to one person in both franchises(Bulls: Jordan, Spurs: Popovich), but the Spurs have also done much better outside of that scope than the Bulls have done outside of Jordan.

6 titles in one decade? They were more successful in the 70s than the 80s.

If it's Pop it's Phil, surely? Before Phil got there MJ won nothing. Before Duncan got there Pop was a laughing stock. Or did you forget that Pop almost got fired the season they won, until Duncan, Robinson and Avery took the reigns?
