Most of the players in our town wore shooting arm sleeves. I only wear an NBA armband.

In reality it has become a fashion thing. Additionally the elbow padding is being used to increase the effectiveness of "crafty veteran tricks" while minimizing the impact to one's self.

Left field:I may do a post about one of the most effective tricks perimeter scorers use to create space. If I bump my "Get to know..." thread you'll know why.

Is that a joke? Kobe Bryant is the biggest follower in the league and he has never set a trend, ever.

All arm sleeves are bullshit. Period. It's all psychological.

I can understand padded arm sleeves. Obviously that does something...but almost nobody should wear those and almost nobody does.

What it's supposed to do: Keep the shooting arm warm, prevent muscles from cramping or overstretching, and help you maintain proper shooting form.

What it actually does: Looks cool. Makes your arm sweaty.

Kobe started the double leg sleeve trend that season when everyone started wearing it after he did

Pretty sure guys were sporting the full leg sleeve way before Bryant. He may have been one of the first to wear two, but I don't really see how that's a much of a deal considering it didn't last very long, and maybe a handful of players even bothered.

It certainly doesn't compare to arm sleeves and headbands.

I will only play ball with my snow suit on. Forget wearing a sleeve for just one arm, why not keep the entire body warm? If for some reason I leave my snow suit at home I take trash bags and wear them under my clothes so I sweat even more, keeping myself warm and prepared.

iverson had soft tissue in his arm after surgery, so he wore it to protect the tissue

since ai's swag was through the roof, other dudes, that wanted to be as swag as iverson, tried to copy him.

actually the compression sleeves work imo. I used to have issues with my biceps/elbow a while ago and wearing a compression sleeve definitely helped! now that I'm fine I don't wear it anymore. But I do wear other compression clothes at times and it feels pretty good because your muscles (e.g. thighs) bounce less and the blood circulates better.
