When being a member of a team (be it as a basketball player, an employee at a job, or a cheerleader for an NBA team) what matters is what you can contribute. However, her chosen profession is one that is highly based on impressive aesthetics and athletic ability. Therefore if she doesn't meet up to the standards then I see no reason why OKC has any obligation to keep paying her.

People expect cheerleaders to be attractive as well as talented. I don't see it as being discriminatory against fat people at all. If I go to see a serious movie about the Napoleonic Wars then I don't get mad if I find out that Jim Carrey or Kevin Hart got rejected for the lead role and someone more suited for the job got it instead. Same logic applies here.

That one individual cheerleader isn't particularly bad, but she better step up her game if she doesn't want to be replaced by somebody more qualified.

women come in all different shapes and sizes, and we are biologically programmed to appreciate lots of variations in this way. The major problem is that many girls expect to be able to look like the rail thin models and cheerleaders, no matter what their body type, and to the detriment of their health. Obviously, in many cases eating disorders lead to premature death. I would understand your comment if she was of an unhealthy weight, ie obese. But obviously she is not, many people have commented on here that she is attractive.

There are entire industries, like modelling, that focus on finding girls who are of an unhealthy weight, and glorifying that. So girls think they need to also be unhealthy in that same way to gain acceptance. The same problem would exist in some bizarro world where morbidly obese women were models, and all girls decided they had to eat 1000 cookies to be just like that and had heart disease when they were 12. That's why this is such a social issue.
