Default Name me a better shooter/passer

Strictly for 3pt shooting AND assists and assist to turnover ratio.

Not nitpicking 1 or 2 years but career percentages

    41.2% 3pt%, 6.5 assist, a low 1.6 turnovers for a 3.95 assist to turnover ratio.

    to put in perspective

    Kyle Lowry is 35.6% 3pt%, 5.7 assists, 2.2 turnovers and 2.63 assist/TO ratio

    Tony Parker .32.7%, 5.9 assists, 2.4 turnovers, 2.45 assists/TO ratio.

    The player is....

    Jose Calderon.

    Stockton's prime (87-97) is basically 12.84 assists on 3.33 TOV (3.85 ratio) on 52.5% FG, 37.7% on 3s.

Calderon's 3pt % is better but overall shooting percentage is worse. And I'm betting Calderon's slightly better assist to TOV ratio would go down if he doubled his assists per game.

I realize I'm comparing Calderon to a legend, but you didn't give me any other parameters.

Calderon's lack of turnovers is because he is a "safe" passer. I'll take Nash's "wrecklessness" type of passing anyday.

Nash is the best shooter ever. (Even better than Curry because Nash could shoot from everywhere (3 p/midrange/ft)... and his playmaking is as good as any point guard in the history of the league....

    He picked his spots well.

Would have been a nightmare against our Olympic team in 2008.

Didnt quite have the ability to take over an NBA game but he was a guy I'd like to have in my corner of I'm playing a 5-on-5 against some good players.

    He's smart.

It's amazing that some actually believed that he is so done that the Lakers simply took him just to get 2 2nd rounders.
I'm not saying the guy is awesome, that he doesn't have holes in his game, esp his defense etc but Walton should atleast try to play him and see if he can really contribute. If not, then do what needs to be done.

I watched most Knicks games last season. Dude looked done there. He can't create any more and even his ball handling has deteriorated. Knicks fans think he was always this bad. He was a good PG once upon a time but that time is gone. He is just a spot up shooter now.

Very efficient no hate involved but an assist means a basket while a turnover does not. I mean which is better 10/5 or 6.5 and 1.5? You can't factor in momentum of a game but just going purely off the numbers I would take 10/5 over 6.5/1.5. Or is there something tangible I'm not factoring in?

I remember how good he was on the Raps. He's just past his prime. Still very smart and a good leader. NY hasn't had a good PG since Rod Strickland, so they had no patience for an older Caldy.

He was playing good for us too . But his scoring volume is so low and defence is really weak . An Average guard for NBA .

I love the way that you were open to other factors.

IMO, turnovers are huge because you just don't prevent your team from scoring 2-3 pts, you also enable the other team to score 2-3 points.
I think of a guy like Derek Fisher who is not flashy, did not make a ton of assists or other great moves like stealing the ball etc but coaches like Phil would remain patient with him because he also do not make a ton of stupid mistakes that could lead to run outs. In contrast, there were guys who have a ton of nice individual moves like Rafer Alston...Smush Parker also had some neat cross overs and a neat between the legs dribble etc and would commit dumb mistakes.
