Default Golden state 73-9 in reg season 14-6 in playoffs

What gives and what does this say about their regular season record? Were they simply a good team that tried harder than everyone else? Did they come in to the season trying to break the record to prove the finals wasn't a fluke with all the asterisk talk? Does their playoff performance diminish your view on the regular season
    What's your take?

Honestly it's mainly just Steph (and Klay to a lesser extent) playing much more inconsistently than the regular season. Blame injuries, more physical play, or whatever.

Golden State played 7 overtime games during the regular season.

    They went 6-1 in OT.

They could have finished as high as 74-8. They also could have finished as low as 67-15.

Maybe this is just a very lucky 67 win team.

Spurs won 67 games got outed in the 2nd round

Lebron's Cavs won 66 and 61 games, lost in ECF and ECSF

heck, even the Hawks won 60 games last season got swept in the ECF

regular season record doesn't mean that much, they almost lost to a 55 win team..they overachieved in the regular season with how hot they were from 3.. that's why we have the Playoffs.

A 14-6 record is not elite. Not all time greatest and is hardly consistent with the regular season record. Many people were crowning golden state as an all time great team because of the regular season. They haven't looked anywhere close to greatest team all time this postseason

Their expected/Pythagorean W-L record was 65-17, so yeah, they were lucky to an extent this year. Some of the luck they created with spectacular plays, but there was also probably around 10-ish games or so where they all but lost the game but their opponent choked big time in the final 2-3 minutes and/or the Warriors got bailed out by some ridiculous three-point shooting by Steph and Klay. Regardless, the Warriors were/still are a phenomenal, all-time great caliber team but I do feel their record-breaking 73-9 season was slightly (very slightly) misleading.

As for the OP's question, Curry being injured is a reason for two of their losses. Other than that, they've lost four combined times to the Thunder and Cavs which are two elite teams.

Since Jordan's Bulls played in a weak expansion era the best team title goes to Golden State.
