He's nowhere close to starting at the NBA level.

    Love the twitter comment though.

Let's not start elevating this guy to a level where we'll all be super disappointed when he's not scoring 25 PPG in his rookie year... kinda like how many people wrote off Bargs after year 2, when it was clearly stated he was a project. While most people like the potential there, he will be a raw rookie, and was the pick 9th in a widely regarded weak draft for a reason. I'm happy we got him, but lets temper our expectations a little.

    Oh Yes!!!

Finally a player that brings hope to Raptors fans. We really suffer when Carter left.

Now we have our wing player of the future. Let's take care of him and be patient , please.

    Let's go Raps!!

Problem is that when DeRozan is ready....Bosh might be in another city.

Deal Bosh to GS for the package in the potential Amare deal!

Yeah or that twit Brandon Jennings who was too good to show up for the draft even whilst watching it in a hotel room nearby. Just because no team could promise him he would be a lottery pick. Spells TROUBLE! Man did i boo him when he came on stage later to get his tv time.

Take RaininThrees advice, do NOT expect DeRozan to be an impact player next year. I'm confident he will have a great future but he still has a ton to learn before he can make any kind of consistent impact on a team.

Still though, thrilled with this pick!

I don't know much about him - I don't really follow college ball. Can some on give some pros/cons about him.

    Thanks.

    Pros:
    Good Attitude
Likes the city of Toronto (at least I hope so)
A beast with his Athletic ability
    A good mid range game
    Takes Pride in defense
    Defense
    Nasty Dunker
    Good Work ethic

    Cons:
He needs to delvelop his game
    Needs some handles
Needs some range on that shot

The good thing about the cons is that Demar wants to improve those areas of his game and his work ethic is high. In college he was lost in the beginning of the year but really put his team on his shoulders to win near the end of the year. His winning at the end of the year shows how much he has grown over one year. He'll be a solid player in Toronto.

No way a rookie at #9 starts. He will probally be a sixth man. Got a question, IF Delfino comes back, he will probably start at the 2 but who's gonna start at the 3 considering that Parker is leaving for Europe and Marion might not re sign. Graham? Oh gosh

They said he shot over 60% in the later stages of the season and his shot was really coming along.

I don't know about starting right away, but definitely once he gets a bit more NBA ready, maybe mid-season, he should be given a shot at a starter role. If not, maybe he could be like Ben Gordon was back in his rookie season in giving us that spark as the 6th man off the bench and playing major 4th quarter minutes.
