A more probable explanation is that he is still adjusting to different shoes.

His new shoes doesn't have the Adidas boost technology because he wanted his shoes to be "affordable".
Should of thought about how it would affect his game more so than his shoe sales. (they're really ugly shoes) Adidas should just stick to Soccer.
