Kobe quit on his team in game 4. That was what made me most sad

how the hell was he prime lmao

2001-2009 was kobes prime ( 2006 and 07 his peak )

I agree with this overall, but you'd (or at least people like you) never afford Lebron the same luxury. Hell, most Kobe fans are ragging on Lebron for his finals this year.

Lebron was older this year than Kobe was in 11...and has much more wear and tear on him than Kobe did as well.

Just another reason Lebron is significantly better than Kobe.

Despite Kobe having the far superior team he just wasn't able to elevate his already stacked team

So, Kobe quit on his team by averaging 23 ppg, but Lebron putting up 17 ppg in his absolute prime in the Finals is just fine. It's not like Kobe's team played well and he was the one that underperformed, Lebron lost 3 straight to that same team with Wade averaging 27/7/5 on 55% shooting, Kobe's 2nd option averaged 13 ppg on 42% shooting. Bynum and Gasol combined averaged less points than Wade alone and on worse efficiency.

Shame that morons Cuban and Nellie Jr. wasted most of Dirk's career building the wrong types of teams.

Not only did they have Chandler, they had Brendan Heywood who they had just traded and reupped with to be their starting center at the tail end of the previous season. Chandler was really only traded for as a way to extend Dampier's expiring contract for another year in case a team was willing to offload a star at the trade deadline. I'm not sure the Mavs brass expected him to hold up physically or mesh with Dirk as well as he did.

Either way, Dirk went from having no legit rim protectors next to him to two over one summer.

The only other time he had that kind of pairing was w/Dampier and Diop who were both really backups trading starts.

Shit, Dirk even dragged a Raef LaFrentz/Shawn Bradley combo to the WCFs before going down w/a knee injury.

Also, I lean more towards putting the blame on Cuban. He has always been the driving force towards constantly changing up the team.

Kobe was always getting bounced early in the playoffs or not making them at all

Agree on all fronts. The only reason I include Nellie is because part of being great at that job is having some backbone to tell Cuban he doesn't know what the **** he's talking about...when he doesn't of course.

Yeah he was unfortunately too good and went #1 in the draft being selected by a team rebuilding, winning ROTY + selected on USA teams

Woulda been nice to be selected by a 55 win Lakers and ride the bench his first couple yrs.

But eh, he was the top pick of his class, not 13th. Heh

According to the other thread, Dallas was a superteam.

Those Lakers were no match. What else is there to say?
