Re: Amateur tattoo artists *roll eyes*
Man I love tats. Some, like the ones I'm getting and have gotten can't really be considered 'dated' cuz they're not really 'trendy'. When I'm finished, I can take them round with me till I decompose. That is unless I, God forbid, lose a limb. I agree though that MOST I see are not well thought out or just borderline impulsive with nothing to them.
Still, I'm not gunna hate. Who am I, (or you) to tell someone what to do with their largest organ? People destroy their liver and kidneys from drinking too much but drinking isn't as taboo as getting inked.

I don't think being a raging alcoholic to the point where you damage internal organs permanently is anything close to normally accepted. So, yes, what you described is considered "taboo".

The careers you mentioned are the lifestyles associated with tattoos. Until you see lawyers, doctors, and executives with tattoos, it will always be looked at as rebellious.

Dunno I saw a well accomplished scientist (and smokin I might add) tat that incorporated her career as a chemical engineer. It was badass. She obviously has a passion for her field you could tell, tat or no tat.

reminds me of this
my sister is a teacher(not teh same as a lawyer ,doctor, or executive), and she says that often times peoplle forget that people have lives outside of work, and yes many drink, smoke, have tattoos, etc.
it's probably the same for the professions you mentioned.

Of course, but those are usually the guys with tattoos on their arms which are covered by dress shirts/suits. I'm talking about guys with visible tattoos

oh oh oh you are referring more specifically to sleeves.
i think the "rebellious" designation attached to it has been diminished, but the lack of presentability has not.
