None of the kids today know who Dale Ellis is. Career pct of 40% (on 3.5 attempts per game) and at his peak, he was a pretty good scorer, averaging 25.6 ppg (1987 - 1990).

I think Dale Ellis was the 3 point champ before Reggie Miller came along to break his record if I'm not mistaken.

Dude had game and was an unbelievable shooter.

Dale Ellis also holds the record for most minutes ever played in a single game at 69 minutes! The game went to 5x OT!!!

His range is probably a little underrated. Watched almost every game he played as a Net and it felt like he could really rain from 32-35+ feet in ways that not many guys could. Three-point shooting in general was never what he was known for, but Vince definitely had range.

I think you are correct about the 3 pt record. He is 14th all-time in 3 pt FGs made (1719) and Miller did pass him eventually. He was one of the first guys to truly shoot the 3 pt shot a lot. Starting from 1987 up until his retirement in 2000, he attempted 4.0 3 pt a game on .405%. Truly one of the better 3 point shooters ever.

You're right, Ellis should get more respect as one of the pioneers of seriously utilizing the 3 point shot. That is a pretty big deal in my opinion.

And he was also an elite level scorer at his peak on top of his shooting. From 1987 - 2000 (4 years) he gave you:

    25.6 PPG, .505 FG%, .412 3 FG% (3.7 attempts per game).
