He does alter shots and contest. Players sometimes run into the paint , see him and come out. His post defense was trash early in the year and he improved it but still isn't good. He's a good defender but in the Playoffs his defense has been bad.

Whiteside just has no fundamentals in post D. The sad part is I think he's worse learning from people like Haslem. Haslem pushes up on D with his hands up b/c he's fkn 6'8".

You are 7' with a ridiculous wingspan, you should not be pushing up on D, you should be baiting people to try to shoot with space, and challenging with the proper hand, that would make it plenty hard to shoot. Instead JV & Big Al just fake and go under him. He's an absolute freak and should just watch tape of Dwight in his prime.

He needs to come to LAL. Kareem will show him what's up, on both sides of the court. He turned Bynum in to the most polished center in the league before the injuries struck him down.

Players are afraid to shoot layups and shots in the paint cus they're afraid of getting swatted from behind by Whiteside. Him just being on the court changes shots. Very few centers are good scorers capable of punishing Whiteside's poor post D, allowing Whiteside to sag off his man and play safety.

Jonas is one of those centers with a strong scoring game capable of punishing Whiteside, and the inexperienced Whiteside is not handling it well.


He is a player who has shown he has strong work ethic and improves very quickly. Compare him this season to his first season in the league. There's no reason to believe he won't continue to improve, considering how coachable he has been and how hard he has worked so far. His post D can be improved with better coaching and more experience and his offensive game can improve a lot if he has a solid coach like Hakeem or Kareem.

He was a different player in the second half. Got bullied by Val, and wasn't contesting anything on the pick and roll. Needs to step out further, but honestly, he looked tired; don't think his conditioning is up to scratch.
