Jordan couldn't float any longer in the air the apex than anyone else. What made him so great in the air is his body control. He could control his shot and body so well in mid-air through contact.

It's the hands. When you can control the ball easily with huge hands it helps you do things in the air ie Drexler, VC, T-Mac too.

Jordan's body control and leaping ability allowed him to have more opportunities to make a shot than probably anyone in history and would often wait until the other guy was on the way down to make the shot. Combine that with huge hands and great knowledge of "English" and he seemed to extend his hangtime.
