FFS, I interpreted this thread's title to mean that Bird had died.

I can remember when Bird first came into the league, he would always be in a hurry to pass the ball in-bounds before defenses could get set, but officials always had this habit of waiting and checking the ball before giving it to him.
About his second or third year in the league, rules where modified so that the inbounder no longer had to wait for the official, and that's when his unexpected sideline passing really took off.

Re: Larry Bird's passing
LeBron is slightly better.
bird might be 0,5 % more skilled but LeBron has better courtvision do to him jumping over everyone and then scanning the court and can complete some passes Bird never could because of his strenght.
there is also a video of Birds hardest passes and how LeBron has done those exact passes as well.
still Larry Legend is THE most creative non PG passer ever

Re: Larry Bird's passing
And here comes the LeBron-revisionists.
LeBron is not a better passer. LeBron is better at playmaking which is different. Bird didn't need to dominate the ball to make a great pass. And his pure passing skill is better, too.

Re: Larry Bird's passing
Top 3 passer ever, easily best passing non guard. Lebron would not make my top 10 best passing SFs ever, so the Bran stans can kindly exit the thread and maybe enter the Brent Barry passing thread, where Lebron has an argument, but by all objective measures is still firmly trailing
