Do you live in an MLS city? If so, bite the bullet and go to a game. So much of the strategy of soccer doesn't show up on TV, because the camera always follows the ball. That means you don't see all of the movements/adjustments that are going all over the field in order to open the defense up. It really is a chess match and is very fun to watch once you understand the strategy.

It can also be very nerve-wracking if you are truly rooting for a team. Because goals don't happen often, every time your team loses the ball, you are nervous until they get it back. It is also quite entertaining to see how, frequently, the entire game changes once one team scores.

All that said, it's not for everyone.

I would say most sports seem boring to those who havnt grown up on it. For example no one in the world bar Americans like American Football. The only part people understand are.

1. White Slave owner (Quarter Back) bosses around bunch of black steroid dudes and shouts orders at them.

2. Black dudes do all the work, but slave owner gets all the credit.

3. Commercials.

4. Half Time show.

Not even joking but most people outside of the US that attempt to watch a regular season NFL game are usually only watching because theyre under the assumption theres gonna be a good half time show.

A great highlight mix of what makes soccer so great. Just the way they are able to move that ball, and with their feet none the less. I love creative midfielders and tricky wingers; they make the game so much fun to watch.

Outside of that, you have to be on your game every night. Even if you are the better team on a night, you can lose if you don't capitalize on your chances. That brings another facet of excitement, especially for smaller clubs since they have a much better chance than in something like basketball. Fans of smaller clubs enjoy being able to hold billion dollar clubs scoreless on some nights.
