That doesn't exactly make up for him losing the do-or-die champisonship winning game (The ECFs were the real Finals in 1968) in 3 straight post seasons though. LMFAO.
Only reason I give Wilt,Elgin,Oscar and West a pass on not winning. Is because they were playing the GREATEST SPorts Team of all time.To me this is a case of people voting with their personal feeling of the player as a person and not a player. Its no way you can erase the names and just look at the accomplihments and not pick WIlt.I myself would put Elgin and Oscar over Bird.

I can understand anyone taking Wilt over Bird in a ranking like this, simply because the totatilty of his career was a little better than Birds, who had an inconsistent first 4 years and an injury ridden last 4.
However, I'm taking a prime Larry Bird over a prime Chamberlain all day, every day, and 33 times on Sunday. And, to me, that's enough to give him the slight edge.
My vote goes to Larry Bird.
Wilt Chamberlain - Arguably the greatest do or die game performer in NBA history.
Larry Bird - Lost 7 times with HCA, including back to back AND back to back to back series.
I usually don't participate in such popularity contests where the outcome is pretty predictable (of course ISH would vote Jordan for #1, getting to love Kareem and Russell would probably bring them to 2-3, Magic and Bird being inseparable in most people's minds would bring them to the next 2 positions and getting to hate/not knowing much about Wilt would probably bring him to 6, although he's comparably inseparable with Russell), but I'll take Wilt over Bird (career and prime-wise) without blinking.

Wilt's record with HCA: 13-5
Bird's record with HCA: 24-7
That is all.

Not Wilt's fault there were more rounds in Bird's era to pad his percentage. All in all, Bird still lost in more seasons with HCA, sorry.

Is that really the stat you are using to compare Bird and Wilt?

Who emphatically and consistently brought it to the discussion originally? It wasn't a staunch, relentless Bird supporter.

Almost too much time. This particular vote has gone on much longer than the others. Bird won.
