Larry Bird on Darryl Dawkins
"O.K.," he says. "I was playing great basketball for about a month. I reached my potential. For one stretch there, I was averaging about 28 points, 14 or 15 rebounds and seven assists. I felt like I had control of every game I played." But then came a nasty injury—one of Darryl Dawkins' massive knees caught one of Bird's comparatively delicate pink thighs just before the All-Star Game, and Bird's thigh turned ugly purple for two weeks.
"I've been hurt before, but I never had pain through my leg and back like that," Bird says. "It felt like my hip came out through my ear. And Darryl didn't even know he hit me! A while later I see him and he says, 'I'm sorry, Larry. I thought I felt something against my leg that night. I read in the paper the next morning that I hit you.' I never did get it back until the playoffs.

Steve Francis reaction when Gerald wallace dunked on some guy in the preseason was classic.

Re: ITT: Great opposing bench reactions
This is an awesome thread. The first highlight that always comes to mind is that Vince windmill against the Clippers (the first link posted in the thread). There's just something interesting about an opposing bench reaction. I guess it has to do with the fact they know they should be keeping it real, but something so nasty happens they can't help themselves a little bit. Adds to the awesomeness of the dunk.

wanna see this when a player is in the "zone" and killing the other team (like Bird when he dropped 60). Kobe has to have some moments like that.

Re: ITT: Great opposing bench reactions
Not so much the bench reaction, but Atlanta's crowd went nuts.

Re: ITT: Great opposing bench reactions
First one that came to my mind T-Mac's off-the-backboradat ASG'02, but can't find the full reaction of Shaq. He holds Kobe's arm for like 5 secs, completely in awe from what he saw.

What set you claim?
Re: ITT: Great opposing bench reactions
For some reason San Antonio's bench always reacts to Kobe hitting stupid shots.
The one where Jordan does that ridiculous triple pump reverse is another good one.
