MJ was smart to not pay Kemba
You can't pay the max to a 6-foot dude that isn't a top 10 player, and have him weigh down your payroll
Just not enough return on investment - Kemba makes you a borderline playoff team at best - you can do better than that by going a different direction and having more flexibility to manuever
This will prove to be a good move by MJ

Agree especially when the bobcats still are not in the playoffs in another 10 years

In this case, I think MJ was unique knowledge of how useless short guards are
That was Phil's philosophy - he hated short guards
I think MJ always appreciated Kemba's attitude, but wished he was like 6'5"
You gotta understand - as usual, MJ must do it the organic way - that always takes longer then being gifted AD or KD like bigger markets get.. so it's easy to call MJ an idiot when you know he'll never acquire a guy like AD and will have to draft such a player.. but he'll persevere and end up on top, because that's what he does

And he won 50 games in 1988 with no 2nd option.. Charles Oakley (a rebounder) was his 2nd option, yet MJ got the 3 seed and won a game off the Pistons..
Compare to Lebron in 2007, who couldn't win a game off the Spurs, or his record loss in 2014 with Bosh/Wade as sidekicks

Defenders aren't 2nd options, so ur making my point
MJ won a game off the Pistons with a defender at 2nd option, while Lebron couldn't win a game off the Spurs with an all-star center and all-defender SG, and lost by record amount with 2 HOF in 14'
Honestly, I wonder if you guys have a psychological problem because you skip over the facts I present that DIRECTLY PROVE YOU WRONG.. the last paragraph proves you wrong - lebron got swept twice and lost by record amount twice, ALL WITH HIGH SEEDS AND GOOD TEAMS/CASTS - mj played the goat Celtics closer with his 8 seeds - THAT PROVES YOU WRONG.. don't skip over it lameass

Hornet lowkey trying like hell to get the first pick next year. They figure a team with Terry Rozier as the best player on the team, can take the Hornet to the lottery as fast as possible.

Re: MJ was smart to not pay Kemba
Yes, he was...
Two times he wasn't smart though just recently;
1. Not trading Kemba, who had real value, knowing he wasn't going to pay him
2. Giving Terry that contract

So this is what it's come to, Threebs?
This thread is the basketball equivalent of saying Julio Jones made a great catch towards the end of that devastating Patriots loss. Technically true, but far too hopelessly lost in the big picture to mean anything.
