I doubt you can find many athletes in any sport that have been on both ends of the spectrum like Lebron has...

From as soon as he made the decision he instantaneously became the villain, and he sure didn't help it... The Big three introduction party and his not 1, not 2... hyperbole... The early season turmoils of the first season, and the peak of the hate when he lost in the finals in such controversial fashion..

The redemption of the next season and the season after that... to now where he has returned home and seemingly the NBA's number 1 guy again

I think that MJ will always be the greatest of all time... But Lebron might go down as the most controversial of all time, the most influential of all time. The boy prodigy with a destiny so great it was impossible to live up to the hype, even though he has had nothing but success.

Dennis Rodman, Allen Iverson, Ron Artest (Metta World Peace), Kermit Washington, those are players that are considered controversial. Even Kobe is far more controversial. What scandals besides him running away from teams when things get tough has he experienced.

Bron could see the writing on the wall- Wade was close to being done, always injured, Ray was on his way out, etc. Making it through a Historically bad Eastern Conference was one thing, but playing an actual team... obviously it wasn't going to cut it any more. He just traded up a roster of older, oft-injured all stars for a roster of young all stars.
