Well it helps when you don't have to carry a team for your first 8 years. Coming off the bench for 2 years also softens the wear and tear to your body as well.

And lets not pretend that Kobe was playing a full 82 games for his entire career either.

When MJ retired in '94 those Bulls he supposedly 'carried' they barely missed a beat with a CBA journeyman Pete 'frigging' Myers. Actually would have improved their w/l total from the previous season considering Pippen missed 10 games in which they went(3-7).

Those Bulls teammates he supposedly 'carried' not only near improve without him in the w/l column ,but they also were collectively more efficient(shot better fg% without MJ)

Had the Bulls gone after a legitimate NBA SG(like Derek Harper who was available & ended up improving the Knicks that beat the Bulls in 7) & not the CBA journeyman Pete 'friggin' Myers they are back in the NBA Finals.
