Re: Is Dwight really 6'10, Bynum taller than 7'1 or just bad angle?
Dwight measured at 6'9 at the NBA Draft Combine, but he was 18 at the time. Maybe he grew since then..

Height is overrated. I like Dwight's broad and bulky shoulders and length. I'd take that over an extra few vertical inches any day of the week.

He's 6'10 to 6'11. A natural power forward
isn't this old news. Tmac announced it when he was being drafted

height isnt everything. dwight is the best rebounder by far and the best finisher around the basket right now.

That's true, except when Dwight is up against a true center like Yao or Shaq. Bynum is getting there, but it might take another few years.

Re: Is Dwight really 6'10, Bynum taller than 7'1 or just bad angle?
Natural PFs are between 6`8 and 6`10.
Average Height for a PF is 6`8
Centers are usually 6`10 to 7`1. Over 7`1 also usually a Center but there arent many 7fters anyhow.
Average height for a Center is 6`10
PFs:
Rooted in Bob Pettit the Classic PF Position play the game facing the basket and attack the rim directly also while having some ball handling. They don`t live off the block (where centers play) and they love contact
Running PFs those that love to run for catching passes on the fast break: they began with James Worthy, Larry Nance, Ralph Sampson and Tom Chambers and later where perfected by Charles Barkley and Karl Malone.
Real PFs: Kevin Garnett, Vin Baker, Tony Gugliota, Chris Webber, Shawn Kemp, Roy Tarpley, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Ralph Sampson, Larry Nance, Terry Cummings, Antoine Carr (even though listed as Forward-Center was a pure PF) etc
James Worthy and Tom Chambers can be seen as PFs even though they played closer to SF (smoother) and because they lacked Rebounding and Where Not Lovers of Contact or Banging either (a must for a Real PF)
Charkes Oakley, Anthony Mason and Carlos Boozer are also PFs but they are not the classical type they are the ones that just love to bang when the NBA allowed contact it was much needed for thick bodied rebounders and paint defenders like them in the late 80s. They are longer of no use...as pretty much the PF position itself really...do to rule changes that prohibit contact in the Forward Regions.
There are also FCs and CFs:
They Play Back to the Basket Pretty Much and Aren`t as the Potent or Athletic as PFs. Reason why, they should not be called POWER Forwards.
FCs:
They have have great Post Skills, Shooting Touch and Center Notion to Block Shots or Rebound but not dominate like a Center in the Defensive Aspect or Tare Down Defenses Appart Away from the Paint like the PFs.
They are more needed for Slow Paced Teams
Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Kevin McHale, Sam Perkins, Kevin Willis etc...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CFs:
Their Game is Center and they are Centers but they are also used when playing in a Twin Tower System because they have Multiple Offensive Qualities not common in Cs.
They love to play on the Block. Are Primarly Shot Blockers, Paint Defenders and Post Scoring Machines:
Hakeem, Ewing, Brad Daugherty and the last of this kind..... Tim Duncan.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dwight is your typical Center. He doesn`t have the Post Skills Moves or Passing Touch be a CF or FC..not even close to a PF.
He is primarly a Rebounder, Paint Defender and Shot Blocker....Whose Athletic Capacities (and lack ofcourse of Centers today) make him him unstoppable in the Paint if you challange him athletically
*He is even more similar to Russel (without the Passing) than Wilt because of his lack of offensive skills but incredible Defensive and Rebounding Presence tat can ANCHOR A TEAM that if having the 2 or 3 right pieces = Champion Contender.

Re: Is Dwight really 6'10, Bynum taller than 7'1 or just bad angle?
Actually, KG is 6' 11.75" which basically makes him a 7" footer and he plays the Center position much of the time.
And how is Charles Barkeley at 6' 3" a true PF? I know he was a great PF, but he wasn't the traditional kind.

Barkely is NOT 6'3". I stood next to him, and he is easily a couple inches taller than I am, at 6'4".

Andrew Bynum is closer to the Camera. Imagine if Bynum is as good as Young Shaq I think he's capable of destroying Dwight Howard.

Barkley by his own admission is 6'4.5"

Barkley is taller than 6'4.5", unless he is wearing 3" lifts.

Jordan is 6'5" at best and Barkley is not taller. As for Dwight, he was measured 6'9.5" and may have grown a bit as he was only 19 when drafted.
