Durant isn't going to LA unless him and LeBron decide to team up and need a team with cap space and tradeable pieces so they can form a big a 3.

Whiteside has to play with other high IQ basketball players to give you those defensive expectations. As I just said...Hibbert was considered a good defensive center before he went to LA...now he's on the worst defensive team in the league. You can't build around Russell, Clarkson and Randle if you want to actually win...they are hopeless defensively.
With bad defenders as teammates, Whiteside likely gets even more blocks... but also likely more fouls.. foul triuble could be an issue.

Miami is currently a much better and stable organization. Blatt isn't going there. And he is progressing quite nicely with Miami's coaching staff. Plus we can offer him more money due to early Bird Rights and no State income tax. All LAL has is history. Phil Jackson, Jerry West and Mr. Buss aren't there anymore.

I was lead to believe this to be false. You don't have his bird rights and you don't have the cap space to max him out without dumping or severely cutting Wade's paycheck. Is this information faulty?

Kind of hard to fathom
If Hassan did fall off, he'd still be better than Roy
Roy "11/7 with 2 blocks prime" Hibbert

I'm sure Whiteside is dying to sign with the organization that signed Wayne Ellginton over him, based on a private workout.

They hold his early bird rights. That means they must use cap space to sign him, but can offer him 7.5% raises per season versus the 4.5% any other team can offer.
The Heat will have $40M in cap space. So yeah, it'll require Wade to take a smaller salary and some other roster moves, but it's certainly doable.
