Yeah that's the whole point. I know a lot of people would say "oh but most of those were 2nd round picks, but you can't just go throwing away your draft assets in every draft. You have to at least take some risks to get rewarded instead of giving them away for guys who are essentially bench players on a good team anyways.

Some of those draft picks he obtained though. Like the Andersen trade for example, we traded the top 55 protected second round pick we got for Hassan Adams. It means nothing.

In a lot of cases though, the protection eventually wears off after a few years. I'm not sure if that's the case in the Adam's deal but I sure would rather have a pick rather than a proven crappy NBA player.

Well looking at this particular situation through an optimistic paradigm, acquiring Andersen was a major component of getting Bayless and Peja's large expirer

Time to look at the big picture.

I still remember laughing when Cleveland of the past would pick up our garbage players. Why would we do the same for Memphis?
