Re: RIP Moses Malone
Damn, a few weeks it was Chocolate Thunder. Another Sixers legend gone.
RIP Moses Malone
Both Moses and Dawkins came straight out of high school too.

I always wonder about this when celebs/athletes (ones you'd be familiar with and perhaps cared about) deaths come out.
I'd say most give their thoughts and sympathy. Some may think about it from time to time as a fan but shouldn't dwell on it for more than a couple days imo.
I'm younger so clearly wouldn't be affected like someone who actually grew up watching him.

same.. here I don't waste much thought, I'd try to never dwell about it actually (useless imo), but I will try to sent out my best for his close remaining ones, since he was a good guy.
Now if someone I grew up watching, my favorite athlete, say Rafa Nadal, would die at 50-60.. I'd probably be pretty shattered..
I feel too many just make sad smileys though when its not that deep (for them/some, anyways).

Why are you judging people's response to a Basketball Legend passing away?

Re: RIP Moses Malone
He was the best player of the last Sixers team who were able to win the NBA Championship.
I hope the Sixers have a Dawkins and Malone tribute at opening night. And they become a playoffs team.

Re: RIP Moses Malone
Moses was born in my home state and played for my favorite team for six great seasons.
Have nothing but the utmost respect for him and wish the best for his family and close friends.

Re: RIP Moses Malone
I'm pretty sure any true diehard basketball fan would be affected by it. At least the immediate effect. We invest(or invested in the past) a lot of time and energy into this sport as a fan...as silly as it sounds.
I never watched a game of Chocolate Thunder but I saw his interviews, saw how he conducted himself as a great ambassador of the league. I genuinely feel losing a guy like Dawkins was a big lost for the league.
I definitely gonna cry whenever Mutombo passes.

Titles are overrated
Re: RIP Moses Malone
Im sure Charles Barkley is hurt. Moses was said to be a father figure to a lot of young bigs. Hes who Hakeem worked out with in college and who Charles said taught him to be a pro.
Probably be underrated forever.
He was for a while considered the best in a league that had Magic, Bird, and Kareem but he never gets put on that level it seems.

not judging, I do feel like some people go over the top a bit when it really doesn't bother them that much (not speaking ISH and this topic, generally), and hey, I too can understand that.

Guess it was his time.. Luckily, Moses died a painless death

Me too. I never watched a full game of Moses Malone. Malone was a top 15 player of all time. This guy was a multiple time NBA MVP, and a former NBA Champion.
