Spain is a small country, similar in size and population to the state of California..yet Spanish athletes are

World's #1 soccer team, by far the most populous sport on earth

World's #1 Tennis player, Rafael Nadal (was over Roger before he got injured)

World's #1 cycling nation and rider --Alberto Contador

World's #2 basketball team, barely losing Olympic Gold to a country with a pop. of 300 million and the inventors of basketball.

Even the world's best baseball players are filled mainly with Spanish blood, Arod and Albert Pujols..

I'd say that it is certainly possible, although it's tough to beat out Russians..whose dominance in both summer and winter sports is unparalled.

Now before people rush in to say blacks..it should be kept in mind that the avg black person in the US is 30% white, and that west african nations alone don't have any history of athletic dominance, nor do black athletes dominate in a wide variety of sports...they are completely absent in all winter sports and sports that require endurance (cycling,swimming, rowing, skiing)..marathon runners are from east africa..completely different than there west african counterparts.

Jamaicans excel in sprinting, but not much else. Very one dimensional. And they win nothing in the winter sports. Interesting about Australia. Very big sporting culture there.

Further on this point in terms of athletiscm, think about jamaica it has a tiny population of 3million and yet it dominates athletics constantly. Imagine if they had a greater populus and funding into training that the us did?

The best cyclist of all time is Belgian. Eddy Merckx. No one who follows cycling would say Lance is the best ever..NO ONE. Not even Lance. Everyone, including Lance says Eddy is the all time best.
