Kinda hard to defend and rebound when your ass is in street clothes for half the season. That's the trouble with Bynum, he could go Brandon Roy mode literally anytime, he's a perpetual injury waiting to happen.

Clearly Bynum doesn't scare the Magic that much or else Orlando/NJ would be deep in negotiations right now. Or they just don't like Lopez that much (and don't like Bynum too). It has to be something like that.
For net fans i'd say be patient. This could work out, in 2 months. Or it could fall apart and you be distraught and then BAM - midseason comes, a star becomes available and you are the only team sitting holding assets...

In the long run I'd make a long term investment in Lopez much quicker than I would in Bynum just for health reasons

The Heat, The Knicks, The Bulls are still better then Brooklyn (even with DHO)

That, my friend, is a completely different conversation for a completely different day.

Yeah we've been left holding the bad many times. I just wish Howard would get traded already so we know one way or the other. I don't want to deal with the Melo-like crap all over again. So annoying.
If it doesn't work out, as I've said repeatedly, I really like Lopez. He played tons better next to Deron Williams after the trade, and could definitely be a strong 3rd best player on a championship team.

Howard or no Howard the nets are fine UNLESS they do huge Nene/Crawford contracts or something like that, something that locks them into above average with no chance to be great. They really need to be patient. I know they want to show Deron they are making moves, but someone like Crawford at $9M per (and i bring him up as they are speaking to him) strikes me as a panic move that could hurt them.

Yeah free agent class is going to be way better next year, not to mention if they don't trade them they have 2 picks in a really deep draft next year. Still don't understand why someone would want to pay Nene $15M/year, that's a rip off. Knicks made a similar deal with Chandler, but he filled a huge need for them.

I think Nets are putting that out there to the agent of Howard saying, hey, if we don't get Howard, we want Nene, we help you, you help us. I honestly could seem them pulling that off the table if Howard doesn't come. At least i hope that is their thinking.
