Optical Illusions
Got bunch of these from a Yahoo headline http://custom.yahoo.com/braingames/brain-teasers. Pretty cool stuffs, but there is one illusion I don't get. See if this works for you:
"A variation on a classic illusion, this cat can be perceived as rotating in either direction. With practice, you can make it switch at will!"
I mean wtf is this? It's CLEARLY rotating in one direction..

Pretty cool.
Edit - Damn. Once you get it in your mind going one direction it's hard to see it going the opposite way.
Edit again - ****ing A, that's a pretty awesome illusion. I was just able to make it "switch directions" a couple of times. Feeling a bit nauseous now though.
can you teach me lol

Re: Optical Illusions
I've seen this one with a woman. It's hard to get it to switch directions. But once you "figure it out", then it becomes easier.
I can only see it rotating counter clockwise right now.
EDIT: Got it. I switched it.
It's a right brain/left brain thing. If you are left brained, try to think of somethign creative, like painting a picture or something....it'll switch. It's weird but that works for me.

Re: Optical Illusions
It's easier to switch directions if you focus on one single element.
The raised leg for the girl in the classic illusion... You can use the cat's tail here.

Re: Optical Illusions
For some reason I can't get this one to switch. I was able to do it with the girl dancer one, but this cat has got me stuck.

Yeah that's exactly what happens when I choose to keep switching direction.
It's funny because there's a little bouncing effect when it gets to the "point of no rotation", does this happen to you also?

Re: Optical Illusions
I see it going clockwise only. I saw another one of these before and I was able to switch the direction, I lost my ability.

Is it in you?
Re: Optical Illusions
I can make it stop!

no its not, that is just some pop-psychology mumbo jumbo. the effect is caused by a lack of information for our brain to make a 'correct' interpretation up of the visual stimulus. it is ambiguous so the direction (we percieve) it is travelling is assumed.

Close your eyes and imagine the cat rotating in the other direction. Works for me.

New one:
At first glance it looks like you have a 70-win team, but when you REALLY focus and think hard about it you realize it's not at all
