The 5 second rule was made because of Barkley. Barkley would dominate, the post up game is non existent nowadays. He would body today's Bigs. I like how Blake Griffin played in the post in the playoffs, reminded me of Sir Charles.

The only thing Chuck would have to modify is his personality. In this watered down league personality, passion, attitude etc are outlawed. Dont think the league would be able to turn sir charles into one of their stepford wives. Hed probably set the guinness world record for techs accrued.

And anyone who thinks he wouldnt at least match pasty doughboy Love's production is smoking that good shit.

    http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/sho...&postcount=255

Barkley's 4 year average for Net ORtg from 1989-1992 is +11.5, while LeBron's 5 year average from 2009-2013 is +11.4. Durant's 5 year average from 2010-2014 is +7.8 on offense, and +1.6 on defense. Based on these raw statistics he is 1.5 points worse than Barkley on defense, and almost 4 points worse than both Barkley and LeBron on offense.

A poster on another forum has calculated Barkley's RAPM adjusted to 2013-14 variance. His overall +/- from both 1989 & 1990 would rank #1, when he was neutral defensively (+0.1). He would still be top 5 in his 1991 & 1992 years as his defense slipped. But on offense only his +/- would almost certainly be number #1 for all four years.

I'm sure his 1993 numbers would look great as well if they were available, considering the team offense was +5.3 (with K.J. missing 33 games) and the team defense was -1.3, for a net rating of +6.6. In the 6 games Barkley missed in 1993, the Suns offense dropped to 103.1 (-4.9) and the defense also dropped to 107.3 (-0.7) for a net rating of -4.2.

He might even be the #1 player in 2014, considering how much LeBron's defense slipped. But not from 2009-2013, except in 2011 he would be right there with Nowitzki.
I don't know how you haven't been called out on this BS.

On offense? As in complete offense (scoring, playmaking, passing, IQ)?

    Stop it.

LeBron is a much more versatile and dominant scorer than Barkley ever was. LeBron is a better playoff scorer and also is a better passer/playmaker.

    Stop the disrespect.

Charles Barkely would do well in any era of basketball. He was a very good player, not much to debate here.

Barkley today would be like a more explosive, fiercer, faster, better rebounding Blake Griffin.

MJ mythologists propping up weak era stars.
Prime Barkley would be better than Blake Griffin, and Serge Ibaka easily in today's era. Prime Barkley was like a much better much more athletic, and much more clutch version of Paul Milsap.

Look at Kevin Love's stats and Bosh's 24/11 season and imagine what Barkley would do

Barkley for me is the best PF of all time peak value wise. Offensively, he had it all in terms of post play, handles, passing, midrange game, slashing, and was capable of the three ball too. And on top of it he was a freakish athlete (along with Bron the best combo of power and speed ever) with point forward kind of skills. In today's game, he would be even MORE DOMINANT today! At the PF or SF, it doesn't matter. Overall, I think he would be the second best player in the world after Lebron in today's game. I give him the edge over Durant cause Barkley is capable of leading the L in boards AND is just as good and likely a better passer than Durant. Chuck is one of the few greats that can say he was an alpha dog AND great all around player all in one! That kind of separates Chuck, Duncan, and KG from the rest of the legendary PF's!
