How impressive is LeBron's FG%?
The NBA average FG% is 45.3 for the year. The Heat with LeBron are at 50.7% which is a whopping 2% better than the 2nd best team in the league, the Spurs. As a matter of fact, the Heat are currently on pace to shatter the single season eFG% record as they're standing at 56.0% for the season. The current record is the 2012-13 Miami Heat at 55.2%.
Some might say that LeBron is the reason the FG% is so high in Miami. But this is absolutely false. Without LeBron James, the team is still shooting 49.0% from the field which is still #1 in the NBA, and 52.8 eFG% which would rank 3rd behind only SA and Houston.
Bosh is a career 49.8% shooter, he's at 53.3% on this team. +3.5% higher than career average and a career high
Wade is a career 49.2% shooter, he's at 54.8% on this team. +5.6% higher than career average and a career high
Beasley is a career 45.0% shooter, he's at 49.8% on this team. +4.8% higher than career average and a career high
Andersen is a career 52.8% shooter, he's at 67.1% on this team. +14.3% higher than career average and a career high
Cole was a career 41% shooter in COLLEGE. Now he's on this team and suddenly shooting 43%. You telling me it's easier for an undersized guard to score in the NBA than it was in college? And on a mid major at that? It's also a career high
Chalmers is a career 42.5% shooter. He's shooting 45.4% on this team. +2.9% higher than career average and a career high
LeBron is a career 50.2% shooter. He's shooting 57.0% on this team. +6.8% higher than career average and a career high
The only players on this team in the regular rotation that aren't shooting career highs are Ray Allen, who most would agree has just not been himself this year, and Battier, who most would agree is a fraction of the player he used to be at this point in his career.
It seems as if the entire Heat's team has inflated FG%'s
And then when you take into consideration LeBron is shooting below 50% in the half court, being on pace to break the single season record for fast break points, and having admitted to protecting his FG%, I just don't see the big deal.

Re: How impressive is LeBron's FG%?
You realise LeBron helps to create for his teammates and gives them a lot of open looks, and that's a reason why their efficiency has increased (there are others reasons too), the same can be said for LeBron but to a lesser degree considering he's the focal point of the offense and is the best player and the main guy defenses are trying to stop. He has improved his jumpshooting and post game and is taking a few less shots which has also helped him raise his efficiency. Any way you look at it it's still impressive.
