Report: Kevin Durant WILL NOT Meet with the Los Angeles Lakers

Jim Buss reportedly told people late last season the Lakers would sign Kevin Durant.

Then, they were just trying to get a meeting with him.

Not even that will happen.

This is embarrassing for the Lakers, a once-proud franchise that has fallen on hard times. Their problems start at the top and trickle down to a roster ill-equipped to win anytime soon. The Lakers have somehow overcome their historical success and desirable market to hold no meaningful appeal to Durant. That’s no easy feat.

The Lakers, image a little more tarnished, can now move onto other targets like Hassan Whiteside. Durant will meet with the suitors that actually interest him.

Nobody wastes their time – though the Lakers certainly would’ve preferred to burn an afternoon and boost their reputation.

As expected. I hope after this offseason that the Lakers organization and the Lakers fan can stop being deluded about getting 2-3 max players. It's time for you guys to be mediocre. It's your turn now. You can't be great forever. Being in LA means nothing anymore. Social media has made that possible and you don't need to be in a huge market to make the money you want since the salary cap is going to explode the next 2 seasons. I'm not a Laker hater but the delusion was getting on my nerves the past few years with these dream lineups.

Dont blame Jim Buss. Lakers wanted to begin the rebuilding process two years ago, but the fans insisted on Cancerbe.

They might have had a reasonable enough team at this point to at least get a meeting. But instead theyre too young and too stinky.

He's not a guy that's gonna carry them, but he's still a nice piece to have. They will need to add more, obviously. But the cap is jumping so quickly, his deal doesnt even look like a max anymore. Theyll be able to continue to add guys. They do need a guy who's just gonna hustle his ass off around the rim like a Tristan Thompson to go with Aldridge. But it's not like having LMA is a deteriment.
