Default Pelicans Frontline and Starting Lineup-Damn!

    C- Asik
    PF- Davis
    SF- Evans
    SG- Gordon
    PG- Holiday

    Bench

    Anderson
    Salmons
    Ajinca
    Rivers

That will be the likely rotation in the playoffs. Very solid team.

Have a look at that frontline Asik and Davis protecting the basket? Ridiculous.

Asik and Davis work so hard and they hustle their ass off. Solid team that will surely go close to a playoff berth.

Since their aren't many New Orleans fans, I thought I might bring this thread to discussion...

I could be wrong but imo it's near impossible to have chemistry with Gordon/Tyreke/Holiday on the floor at the same time. They either need to let Evans be the primary ball handler off the bench or trade him or Gordon.

The team talent wise could be the 2nd best team in the East imo but they will be fighting for the 8th seed in the West. Holiday and Evans defesnively if you pair them is very beast in particular with Davis/Asik backing them up, there defensive potential imo if they focus on it could be great. They need a sniper shooter at SF imo like a Korver.

So you're now a Pel's fan OP? What is it? Finally gave up on Rose and the Bulls?

My interest in the NBA expands outside of one player or team.

Look at my avatar, do you really think I would ever change teams?

The starting lineup looks good on paper.

But can this team stay healthy, which has been a problem, and will they begin playing defense? This team was ranked the 25th worst in defensive efficiency last season, even with one of the premiere shot blockers in the league.

Obviously Asik helps their interior defense, but is it enough to make a dramatic improvement or are the perimeter players just too poor and uncommitted defensively?

And besides Ryan Anderson coming off NO's bench, the remaining bench players don't exactly look imposing.

they need more shooters and off-the-ball players to space the floor.

That backcourt, as a unit, is terrible.

Holliday is the only one worth a damn out there.

They need to trade Gordon at any cost.

They needs to make Tyreke the starting SG and trade Gordon for a starting SF

    not impressed.

AD is my favorite "superstar", along with Rose. But this Pelicans core is a mess

This is exactly what I think. Anderson is a really cool fit because he can play next to either Asik at C, or next to AD at C, and make a dynamic scoring lineup. And just watching AD in these international exhibitions, he seems more and more comfortable starting at C, and you may wind up with that lineup a lot.

But you are right. The bench is attrocious beyond that. I've always liked the idea of a Tyreke as a super bench guy (in fact I've liked that for most high usage type SFs or Big SGs who take a lot of shots, like Bonzi Wells, or even like Manu, who's sort of like that, and I think Dion Waiters should've been heading that way prior to this roster change). But there's no one to replace him with.

A shooter like Korver, as mentioned, that would turn Tyreke into the sub at all three perimeter spots, would be a dynamic change to this team.

There's almost no way they're ideal lineup stays healthy enough for an entire season.
