It's sad that Lebron missed the POs. This version of Kawhi would drop 45ppg when defended by Lebron

MJ was also at 35/7/7 on 50% for the 85-93' playoffs

The reality is that Kawhi isn't shooting enough - shooting 60% in a tight series means you can shoot a lot more and your team needs you to.. MJ would win this series in 5 by shooting and dominating more

Btw, Kawhi benefits from a wide open game designed by the NBA for perimeter players to thrive. MJ would average 50

MJ would easily win the ring with this squad, and be FAVORED to do so - they'd flirt with 70 wins in RS

Let me know when Kawhi can jog up to the FT line and double-pump

I'm a kawhi fan for life now. I'll cop his jersey no matter where he is.

Why can't we just appreciate a great run without bringing up Jordan? I am old enough to remember Jordan in college and loved his game, but frankly I get tired of his name being constantly brought up.

Kawhi has been awesome. Funny thing is that he is making it look easy. He never looks hurried, almost like he is playing in slow motion, and is able to score routinely. Along with Durant he is showing the value of an advanced midrange game in the playoffs.

That stepback 3 at the end of the game, while being double teamed by Embid/Simmons, was the definition of clutch.

You know the only ones who bring up MJ are the Lebron trolls here.

That's an indication of the change in era and how much easier it is to score now

And that was just 5 years ago, let alone the clogged paints of the 90's

Just based on eye test, I think 96-98' MJ was much better than Kawhi and would have better numbers than him.. MJ was far quicker with much quicker reflexes, and his mid-range jumper and repertoire was a couple levels up from Kawhi.. just an entirely better player - similar footwork sometimes, but far more graceful, skilled, quick and better instincts..

Earlier today I was watching the 95' ecsf that MJ lost, and Shaq was just standing in the paint for entire possessions along with other players - the paint was largely sealed and it took a great move to get in there, otherwise it was all jumpers - and super tough contested jumpers that Kawhi doesn't have to take

Just night and day different defenses.. a different sport basically.. it would really be something to see MJ in today's game with all that space.. 50 point games would occur with considerable regularity
Most of what you say is true.

I'd still say Kawhi in on that 96-98 tier though. He impacts the game on both ends @ an elite, superstar level.

Not that he's better than that Jordan. More like a HEIR on the waiting list. To be fair, I don't even like the MJ comparison. Kawhi plays more like Pippen but with better offensive skills. If anything he moves like Wizards MJ

No. Literally only one loser brings up MJ out of the blue and that's 3ball.

Lots of losers bringing up Lebron out of the blue tho:

Efficency in a defensive weak era like today isn't that hard.

What was Kawhi's efficiency numbers during the Finals series he won FMVP while making LBJ his bitch again?

I will say that Kawhi has improved a lot on his midrange shooting, you just can't give him open looks and dare him to shoot like teams do to LeBron...
