Default Lebron's Isolations in Game 2

    .
Due to spacing, Lebron only faced 1 defender on strongside - weakside floor-spreaders lured the rest away:

Same as Game 1.. Only 1 defender on strongside:

It's clear as day - today's player never faces strongsides with more than 1 or 2 defenders, due to weakside floor-spreaders that lure defenders away.. Otoh, these floor-spreaders didn't exist in previous eras, so defenders remained on the strongside, which meant players faced strongsides that were already flooded with all 5 defenders.. The difference is night and day - just a completely different game altogether.

In addition to the porous strongside defense caused by weakside floor-spreaders, today's spacing provides more time and room for players to operate.. It also combines with the bans on paint-camping and hand-checking to "open up the game" for perimeter players, as the league intended.

The Hawks are just a horrible defensive team, if they aren't hitting their 3's they cant beat anybody.

Exactly - porous strongside defense is a given in today's game due to weakside floor-spreaders that draw defenders away (spacing), so a team must be able to keep up offensively..

But the Hawks were a gimmick, regular season team from the start... They seemed like the Spurs-East, but when you look closely at their roster, they don't have the bevy of All-NBA players the Spurs always had.

It's not the same.. This thread is about Lebron's isolations in Game 2 where he only faced 1 defender on the strongside (like the GIF above, and all 4 GIFs in OP).

There was a separate thread for his Game 1 isolations, and I'll be doing another one for Game 3, with each thread showing the cumulative accumulation of possessions where he scored while facing only 1 strongside defender.

So each thread is different and builds on the last.. I also have GIFs for Lebron's isolations where he scored on only 2 strongside defenders - but there are plenty every game where he scores on just 1, so I'm only including those.

Otoh, in all the footage I've watched of MJ, I can't find ONE possession where he faced a strongside that only had 1 defender on it.. It's quite remarkable, but shouldn't be surprising, since his eras didn't have weakside floor-spreaders to draw defenders away.

Maybe.. just maybe this is because Michael Jordan and Lebron James have played in two different eras

After LeBron rocked the Hawks, 3ball started scrambling for YouTube clips to disprove LeBron rocked the Hawks.

The internet is a strange place.

It's because he doesn't watch anybody else. He's Lebron's biggest fan.
