Re: 3 rings, or Holding half the Records in NBA History...
Rings are definitely important don't get me wrong, but breaking a chamberlain record, or just getting 81% of a Chamberlain record will immortalize you for for all eternity.
MJs 72 win Bulls
Lebron's 27. Game win streak
Kobe's 81 point game
Kareem's 31000th point
^^all of the above were chasing Wilt records, and all got more media coverage than the 2005 Spurs championship team.

That's cool and all, but literally everyone gives more importance to MJ taking the Bulls to 72 wins and a ring in '96, than what Wilt has accomplished in his entire career combined.

And literally no one gives a flying fuck about the '72 Lakers.
If they do, props to West and his 26/4/10 on 48%.
Carried the Lakers to 69 wins.

1. No. Not by a long shot. Especially if we are to take your whole quote literally, it would only take a really psychotic Jordan sheep or a really ignorant fan to reach to such absurd lengths.
2. Even if you were true, promotion based on marketing has no value among people who know how to judge and evaluate history. I don't care if Jordan's '96 season was more hyped than all the previous NBA history combined. I don't care that LeBron's last couple of Finals are more hyped than whole decades of NBA history combined. I don't care that Bieber is more hyped than dozens of classical composers combined. That's what marketing is good for. Taking advantage of the weak human memory and human unwillingness of learning things past their time and making it seem like only the present is what matters.

No one gives a shit about MJ's '96 flop job in the Finals, either (shooting .415 and couldn't hit a shot to save his life in the last three games when Karl finally put the Glove on him.) That was over 20 years ago. He would be no better than Cousy in TODAY's NBA.
As for West...yep, "Mr. Clutch" carried LA in the '72 Finals alright. Where would LA have been without his .325 shooting, and getting badly outplayed by Walt Frazier?
Of course, Wilt was just along for the ride that season... finishing 3rd in the MVP balloting, and then by ALL accounts, outplaying the regular season MVP, a peak Kareem, in the WCF's...en route to dominating the Knicks and their five HOFers in the Finals... and winning the FMVP.
