The guy is mega rich and will make bucket loads of cash in endorsements etc because of his move to Cleveland.

The cap provides flexibility for the management to fit players around him. Taking the biggest chunk possible out of it does not help your team get better or your situation.

A) return to the heat, media narrative begins to question wether the big 3 have lived up to expectations, having more finals series lost than won begins to creep up.. Ultimate pressure to make the finals again, live up to the "not 5 not 6 not 7 but 8" hype..

Or

B) return home, be touted as a hero, no pressure to return or even win the finals the next year, release a statement written by a PR guy with an apology and take the expectations off of making the finals or winning a championship by claiming "it's a process, this will take time" (all while trying to gut the team for all stars and former teammates ) if you make the finals or even the ECF in that shitty conference you'll be praised, if you win a championship after getting your hand picked all stars (again) you'll be praised like superman..win-win situation
